Automarshal at the carsharing parking lot at Vnukovo International Airport

The automatic number plate recognition system Automarshal has been implemented at the carsharing parking lot at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow.

The system manages the traffic barriers and traffic lights, displays the information on the LED panel for the customers and measures the time of a stay at the parking lot. Additional cameras for observation have also been installed to monitor the parking lot area for entry and exit.

Automarshal allows the operators of the system to conveniently manage the vehicle lists. Furthermore, it collects the data needed for the administrative and business analysis, and forms the reports for the financial department. The software has been further developed to allow the exchange of vehicle lists with the carsharing companies.

All of the system installation has been performed by our partner in Moscow. Limited timeframe, installation in the difficult conditions due the carried-out construction, and an integration with the equipment at the parking lot (e.g. with traffic barrier, infrared sensors, LED notification screen and traffic lights) all introduced additional challenges during the system implementation.

Software:

• Automarshal, vehicle speed up to 30 km/h, 2 recognition channels: is stand-alone software for the vehicle number plate recognition developed by Mallenom Systems. For this task the software has been equipped with two video channels that can perform the recognition of the number plates. Additionally, for this task, the version of the software that performs the recognition of the number plates for the vehicles that move at a speed below or equal to 30 km/h has been chosen.
• Automarshal-Video surveillance channel: is a software module that allows to add a video channel from surveillance camera to Automarshal without the vehicle number plate recognition. This module allows to capture the freeze frame of the intended object upon the recognition of the number plate by the system.
• Automarshal-DIO: is a software module that allows PC with installed Automarshal to connect to input/output module and interact with such external devices as traffic barriers, traffic lights, external sensors and other.
• Automarshal-LED: is a software module that allows Automarshal to connect to and display the information on supported LED panel.
